The College Assistance Program, Inc. (CAP, Inc.) is a nonprofit organization which operates with full cooperation of The Miami Foundation and the Miami-Dade County School Board. CAP, Inc. assists Miami-Dade County Public School students who have exhausted all avenues of financial assistance (federal, state and institutional), but who still have significant unmet needs to attend the college of their choice.

In 1977, the Miami-Dade County Public School System started a pilot advisory program with 10-12 part-time college assistance advisors. They were in the school system tasked with helping students find potential financial aid opportunities. The following year, CAP, Inc. was founded to financially support the Miami-Dade County Public School’s College Assistance Program (CAP) and award scholarships to graduates in need. The inaugural CAP, Inc. Board included G. Holmes Braddock, Founder of CAP and a founding member of CAP, Inc. Mr. Braddock is also Miami-Dade County’s longest serving School Board member.
