The Miami Foundation’s scholarship programs help students gain access to higher education. Increasing young people’s educational attainment is a critical factor for Greater Miami’s growth. Thanks to generous donors, we have helped thousands of students develop and contribute their passions and talents to our community. Scholarships are awarded based on various criteria, including overcoming life’s obstacles and academic achievement. Venture Miami Scholarship Fund  

 

The Venture Miami Scholarship Fund provides tuition support to provide gap funding for at-need City residents who have been accepted into STEM or defined demand occupation programs at participating colleges and universities, which currently include Florida International University, Florida Memorial University, Miami-Dade College, and the University of Miami.

ALAN R. EPSTEIN ‘REACH FOR THE STARS’ SCHOLARSHIP 

 

The Epstein family established the Alan R. Epstein ‘Reach for the Stars’ Scholarship to honor the life of an outstanding young man who was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Scholarships are awarded to students who have overcome life’s obstacles.

COLLEGE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (CAP, INC.) 

 

CAP, Inc. provides scholarships to Miami-Dade County Public High School graduates who have exhausted all avenues of financial assistance (federal, state, and institutional) but still have significant unmet needs to attend the college of their choice. Click here to learn more about the CAP, Inc. program. 

 

The College Assistance Program (CAP, Inc.)  Scholarship is accessible through our Scholarship Portal. After registering for an account, you will be directed to all available opportunities, click on “2023 College Assistance Program” and complete the application.

GIVE KIDS A CHANCE SCHOLARSHIP 

 

The Give Kids a Chance Scholarship was established by Brian McDonough, Esq. to support children of lower-income families. Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors desiring to continue their education but need additional financial assistance to do so. Recipients are eligible for additional awards given they maintain full-time status and meet academic requirements.

FUTURE LAWYERS SCHOLARSHIP 

 

The Future Lawyers Scholarship established by DRRT, an international law firm, will provide first-year law students with financial assistance as they explore their interest in law school. The recipient will receive a $5,000 scholarship for three years of law studies with an opportunity to intern and attend events at DRRT. To qualify, applicants must have proven financial need, must be a resident of Miami-Dade or Broward counties, and be admitted to an ABA-accredited law school.

ORTEGA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP 

 

The Ortega Foundation established The Ortega Foundation Scholarship Program in honor of its founder Jose Antonio Ortega, Sr. Jose Antonio strongly believed in giving academically accomplished individuals the opportunity to pursue a college education. Scholarships are awarded to Miami-Dade County high school seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or above.

LIBERTY SQUARE/LINCOLN GARDENS STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND 

 

The Related Groupestablished this fund to assist students with high aspirations who live or have immediate family in Liberty Square and Lincoln Gardens. Scholarship recipients may pursue their future goals by supporting their post-secondary education through a college degree or a career-path vocational/technical certification program.

JUDGE SIDNEY M. ARONOVITZ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

 

The Aronovitz Family partnered with The Miami Foundation to honor the memory of the late Judge Sidney M. Aronovitz. Judge Aronovitz stood as an example for the community, excelling in his chosen profession and always thinking of those less fortunate than himself. Scholarships are awarded to Miami-Dade County minority students planning to continue their education through the university-level and pursue a career related to the legal field or social-justice issues.

FAQs 

 

Q. Who can receive a scholarship through the Miami Foundation? 

A. Our scholarship provides funding for students ranging from graduating high school seniors to students already enrolled in colleges, universities and vocational programs. 

 

Q. How much funding do the scholarships provide?

A. This will vary as some of our scholarship funds fill the gap for unmet needs through other funding.

 

Q. Can I apply for more than one scholarship?

A. Yes, you can apply for more than one scholarship if eligibility requirements are met.

 

Q. How are scholarship recipients selected?

A. Each scholarship fund has its own unique set of eligibility requirements. A selection committee reviews the applications after the Foundation processes them.

 

Q. How do I apply for a scholarship?

A. Students must apply for a scholarship via our online Scholarship portal.

To access the online portal, go to miamifoundation.org/scholarships, click on ‘scholarship portal on the right-hand side of the screen to register for an account. 

Once you have registered, click on the scholarship you are interested in, review the application carefully, and ensure that is filled out completely.   

Please be advised that The Miami Foundation will not accept mailed, faxed, or emailed applications.
