A month that left us feeling proud

Each year, the first week of March provides us the opportunity to punch up our Miami pride with a date that matches the iconic three numbers symbolizing our community across the globe: 305.

At the Foundation, there’s lots we’re still reveling in as the month comes to a close: the launch of our latest Miami Fellows cohort, the first-ever state-wide disaster journalism summit, and, in honor of Women’s History Month, recognition of so many incredible women advancing our community.

Amidst this reveling, we havxe a request of you: as your community foundation, our ultimate source of pride is in serving as a true solutions center for Greater Miami — connecting people and organizations to knowledge, resources, and each other.

As we enter a transformative chapter for our Foundation, we’re calling on you, our community, to help us understand how fully we’re living into that mission.

Launching Miami Fellows Class XII with learning labs

Miami Fellows Class XII launched their 15-month leadership journey last month with a grounding in place, purpose, and one another.

Guided by local historians, Dr. Paul George and Dr. Marvin Dunn, alongside Miami Dade College President Emeritus Eduardo J. Padrón, Fellows explored the complexities of Miami’s history and how it continues to shape leadership today. More than a history lesson, the lab invited Fellows to wrestle with the realities of leading in a diverse, polarized, and evolving community.

Miami Fellows was founded 25 years ago to build a generation of cross-sector leaders who share our commitment to building a Greater Miami where everyone can thrive. Today, the continued impact of our hundreds of program alumni is an immense source of pride for our Foundation and community at-large.

Partnering with Press Forward local chapters for the Florida Natural Disaster and Journalism Summit

With the start of hurricane season only a few months away, Florida’s three Press Forward chapters brought together journalists from across the state for the first Florida Natural Disaster and Journalism Summit at the University of Florida on March 10.

The convening, which also included disaster response experts, data scientists and nonprofit leaders, focused on how local newsrooms can best prepare to inform their communities before, during and after a natural disaster — including how to build trust, address misinformation, and identify opportunities for collaboration that can increase impact and reach more people across diverse languages and geographies.

As a member of Press Forward South Florida, we’re proud to have hosted this summit in partnership with Press Forward Tampa Bay, Press Forward North Florida and the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications.

Celebrating our CEO, recognized for a 3rd year in a row

South Florida Business Journal has once again recognized our President and CEO, Rebecca Fishman Lipsey, as one of their 250 Power Leaders —a recognition that feels especially meaningful during Women’s History Month.

Rebecca leads with vision, courage, and a deep commitment to our community. Her leadership reminds us that the most powerful leaders don’t just set direction—they lift others up, build strong cultures, and inspire lasting change.

Donor Spotlight: The Miami-Dade Impact Collective

We love seeing community members come together through their generosity, and one of our favorite bold giving groups is the Miami-Dade Impact Collective (MDIC), a community of more than 40 women who live here and want to give back boldly and locally. The group meets regularly to identify high impact leaders who would benefit from a serious investment and welcomes new members.

In 2025, they donated more than $1 million across three extraordinary organizations, Achieve Miami, 3G Miami, and Dade-County Street Response. We’re proud to support their efforts, and incredibly moved to see so many brilliant women standing together in friendship and generosity to build a stronger Miami.
