FEBRUARY NEWS – LESSONS FROM CHARLOTTESVILLE: HOW TO UNITE A COMMUNITY

“We had to acknowledge that we are many communities and that people need different supports,” the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation’s Brennan Gould told a crowd of 130+ donors and local leaders at our 2020 State of Black Philanthropy. During her keynote conversation with the Miami Herald’s Nancy Ancrum, Brennan shared how the violent attacks of 2017 sparked a new focus on improving racial equity through philanthropy. The Foundation also announced $20,000 to 39 nonprofits from the new Black Philanthropy Fund and a research partnership with Bank of America around giving in Greater Miami’s black communities.
