Valencia Gunder of Make the Homeless Smile and Vanessa Tinsley of Bridge to Hope

JUNE NEWS – LOCAL HEROES HELP MIAMIANS GET HURRICANE-READY

Valencia Gunder and Vanessa Tinsley run two nonprofits on opposite sides of Miami. Still, they share one mission: get food to residents when they need it most. After Hurricane Irma, they fed thousands of Miamians. Valencia and Make the Homeless Smile provided 20,000+ meals in Miami’s urban neighborhoods, while Vanessa, a Miami Leaders alum, and Bridge to Hope gave out 20,000 bags of groceries in Homestead. They’re now using grant dollars from our hurricane relief funds to stock up on supplies and get community-led emergency response teams in place.
