As the year comes to a close, The Miami Foundation has several dates for you to keep in mind when planning your year-end giving. Our team is here to assist you and your professional advisors with a range of solutions to make your charitable giving easier. If you have a Donor Advised Fund at the Foundation and would like to submit grant recommendations for processing by year-end, the deadline is Friday, December 10th. Submit your grant recommendation through the Donor Portal or email your completed Donor Advised Grant Recommendation Form to your Fund Representative at the Foundation. All grants submitted after the December 10th deadline will be processed the week of January 6th.
Via Complex assets – As Soon As Possible
Real estate, closely held business interests or stock, and planned giving vehicles should be discussed with your Fund Representative as soon as possible to ensure an efficient gift process.
Via Securities – December 27th
Initiate your transfer by Monday, December 27th to allow the transaction to settle by Friday, December 31st. Please notify your Fund Representative by completing and returning the Securities Transfer Form.
Please note: Mutual funds may take up to four weeks to settle.
Via ACH/Wire – December 29th
Initiate your transfer by Wednesday, December 29th to allow the transaction to settle by Friday, December 31st. Please notify your Fund Representative by completing and returning the ACH/Wire Transfer Form.
Via Check – December 31st
Please make checks payable to “The Miami Foundation” and remember to include your Fund name in the memo line. Checks sent via U.S. Postal Service or any other carrier must have a postmark or processing date on or before Friday, December 31st and be mailed directly to our office at the address listed below.
Please note: since the legal public holiday for New Year’s Day falls on a Saturday, Friday, December 31 may be treated as a holiday and limit U.S. Postal Service hours. Other carriers have their own schedules and may operate partially or fully. Please plan accordingly to ensure your charitable deduction for the 2021 tax year.

Via Credit Card – December 31st
Submit your credit card gift through the Donor Portal by selecting Donate to your Fund in the Fundholder menu. To give to another Fund at the Foundation, visit miamifoundation.org/give-now. Credit Card gifts can be made up until Friday, December 31st.
