As the year comes to a close, The Miami Foundation has several dates for you to keep in mind when planning your year-end giving. Our team is here to assist you and your professional advisors with a range of solutions to make your charitable giving easier. If you have a Donor Advised Fund at the Foundation and would like to submit grant recommendations for processing by year-end, the deadline is Friday, December 8. Submit your grant recommendation through the Donor Portal or email your completed Donor Advised Grant Recommendation Form to your Fund Representative at the Foundation. All grants submitted after the December 8 deadline will be processed by January 5.
Via Complex assets – As Soon As Possible
Real estate, closely held business interests or stock, and planned giving vehicles should be discussed with your Fund Representative as soon as possible to ensure an efficient gift process. Per the Foundation’s gift acceptance policy, our Board of Trustees is required to review and approve these gifts. Therefore, additional time may be required to conduct proper due diligence.
Via Securities – December 27
Initiate your transfer by Wednesday, December 27, to allow the transaction to settle by Friday, December 30. Please notify your Fund Representative by completing and returning the Securities Transfer Form.
Please note: Mutual funds may take up to four weeks to settle so please expedite these transfers as soon as possible.
Via ACH/Wire – December 28
Initiate your transfer by Wednesday, December 27, to allow the transaction to settle by Friday, December 29. Please notify your Fund Representative by completing and returning the ACH/Wire Transfer Form.
Via Check – December 29
Please make checks payable to “The Miami Foundation” and remember to include your Fund name in the memo line. Checks sent via U.S. Postal Service must have a postmark date on or before Sunday, December 31, and be mailed directly to our office at the address listed below.
If you would like to send your check via private carrier (such as DHL, UPS or FedEx), it must be received before our office is closed on December 29 to be considered for a 2023 tax gift.

Via Credit Card – December 31
Submit your credit card gift through the Donor Portal by selecting Donate to a Fund in the Portal. To give to another Fund at the Foundation, visit miamifoundation.org/give-now. Credit Card gifts can be made up until Sunday, December 31 at 11:59 pm. We are available until the end of the year to assist you, please do not hesitate to contact your Fund Representative at 305.371.2711.
