Racial Equity Fund Grant Partners 2022



Healing and Justice Center – The Center is a partnership between Dream Defenders, Circle of Brotherhood, Dade County Street Response and Beyond the Bars, focused on ending violence and promoting safety and healing in the community outside of the police and prison system. Programs include the new Doctors Within Borders Urgent Care Clinic, a mental health mobile crisis unit, therapy, and case management for survivors of violence, legal support to get people out of jail, and year-round youth programming in partnership with The Roots Collective.


Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami BBBS is a community partner in Miami-Dade’s Gun Violence Initiative. The grant will support the social justice work in which BBBS facilitates “Bigs in Blue” mentorship programming and activities between youth outreach police officers and young people impacted by community violence to develop youth’s potential and alter relationships.


Gang Alternatives, Inc. – Gang Alternatives, Inc. focuses on building positive alternatives for youth and families dealing with the realities of living in communities with high crime and violence. The Foundation’s investment will provide flexible funds for its goal to serve as a more open-access, drop-in community center for youth who greatly need this type of safe, supportive neighborhood resource.


GATE – Juvenile Weapon Offender Program –The Foundation will support research-proven intervention grounded in engaging young people in educational experiences related to community violence, group sessions to shift mindsets and behaviors, and personal mentoring and social support to address trauma and advance life opportunities.


Mothers Fighting for Justice – Mothers Fighting for Justice is on a mission to stop gun violence and to support its survivors and their families. The grant will support the group’s grassroots work with victims of community violence – survivors, mothers, children, and families – helping them cope with and heal from trauma, and addressing disparities in access to resources and opportunity, particularly in South Miami-Dade.
