MIAMI OPEN FOR BUSINESS

The Miami Foundation is launching the Miami Open for Business initiative to support small, historically disadvantaged, minority business owners to own more of their businesses’ assets, such as property, equipment, and technology. With support from Wells Fargo, funding will help build generational wealth and resilience for small, minority-led nonprofits and businesses located in Miami-Dade County.

EXTREME HEAT PROTECTION EFFORTS

In 2021, the Foundation aided in the creation of the world’s first Chief Heat Officer position. The Chief Heat Officer headed our Climate and Heat Health Task Force which prioritized short-term actions and is creating a framework for prioritizing future actions, monitoring progress, recommending staffing, and solving other resource needs for implementation around extreme heat.

MIAMI CONNECTED: BRIDGING THE DIGITAL DIVIDE

Miami Connected aims to make Greater Miami the most technologically inclusive and equitable community in the nation by bridging the digital divide and providing economic opportunities for all its residents. Learn about the recently launched Digital Equity Grant. Support this partnership with Achieve Miami and a consortium of partners.

ON THE ROAD TO EQUITY

In June 2020, we launched The Racial Equity Fund to address the persistent systemic racism in America and our community. Thanks to our generous donors and partners, we have multiplied our initial investment tenfold to provide support for organizations and individuals onthe-ground. Watch this year’s State of Black Philanthropy to hear from our grantees and learn how you can get involved. (Pictured: S.O.U.L Sisters Leadership Collective)
