When is the CAP, Inc. application deadline?
The application deadline is Friday, May 26, 2017 at 4 p.m.
Can I mail or fax in an application?
No. All applications must be submitted through the online system.
If I haven’t received a CAP grant in the past can I still apply this year?
Yes, you can apply as long as you have graduated from a Miami-Dade County Public School.
If I have received an award in the past, do I have to apply again this year?
Yes, because your financial need changes every year.
Do you accept unofficial transcripts?
Yes. All rising college sophomores, juniors and seniors are required to submit an unofficial college transcript. Freshman do not need to submit a transcript.
What if I haven’t received my Financial Aid Award letter?
Rising freshmen: If your financial aid award letter is not available to you, please contact your college or university’s financial aid office to request that they send it to you. If your school is still unable to send your 2016-2017 Financial Aid Award letter by the CAP, Inc. Grant deadline, please request an estimated award letter from your university’s financial aid office.
Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors: If your financial aid award letter is not available to you, please contact your college or university’s financial aid office to request that they send it to you. If after contacting the financial aid office, your school is still unable to send your 2016-2017 Financial Aid Award letter by the CAP, Inc. Grant deadline, you may submit last year’s (2015-2016) Award Letter.
When will I be notified?
Students will be notified of whether or not they have been selected to receive a scholarship via the email you provided in your application by July 31, 2017. You will be notified via the email address you provideed in your application.
I attended high school in Miami-Dade County, but attended a private school. Am I eligible for a grant?
No. You are only eligible if you attended a Miami-Dade County Public School.
If I cannot attend Grant Night, am I still eligible for the award?
Yes. Information packets will be mailed to recipients who could not attend Grant Night by mid-August.
