24 Jun JUNE NEWS – AFTER ORLANDO, HOW GIVING CAN HELP

Since the June 12th tragedy at Pulse nightclub, local and national organizations have united to support the Orlando community through philanthropic giving and volunteer service.  If you would like to help, several opportunities are listed below:

– Central Florida Foundation established the Better Together Fund.

– OneOrlando Fund will benefit the families of victims.

– Equality Florida created a GoFundMe campaign for victims’ families.

– Our Fund Foundation is collecting tax-deductible donations for Orlando-area nonprofits.

– Youth Advisory Council of National Voices for Equality Education and Enlightenment, a past Community Grants recipient, initiated the #LettersToOrlando campaign.

– SAVE, a GLBT Community Projects Fund grantee led by Miami Fellows alum Tony Lima, promotes continued movement toward equality in our state.

Funders for LGBTQ Issues put together this resource guide with more ways to help.

Our thoughts are with all those affected by this senseless act of violence.  If you would like additional recommendations for local nonprofits effectively addressing LGBTQ issues, including those supported by the GLBT Community Projects Fund, please contact Victoria Fear.
