27 Sep JOSE FERNANDEZ’S CHARITABLE LEGACY: THE JDF16 FOUNDATION

The Greater Miami community was saddened by the tragic loss of José Fernández, beloved Miami Marlins star pitcher, in a boating accident on September 25. José was an inspiration both on and off the field, who brought much joy to the game and those who knew him. The Foundation family’s thoughts and prayers continue to be with his loved ones during this trying time.

His family established the JDF16 Foundation with us to reflect the values that José embodied: love of family and a passion for helping youth. We’re privileged to work with them to honor the legacy of this inspiring Miamian who will always be remembered for his talent and passion for his community.

I have made a donation to, at least in a small way, honor and support his passion, joy and love for life and family. I am very saddened by the news. God knows my husband and I loved him and loved watching him just be at the park. I am proud and glad to say I was at his debut game with the Marlins and have loved him ever since. I will always remember him as the happy kid he was. He will forever be in our hearts, and I hope, that at least in some way, his passing can achieve a greater purpose and his life continues to inspire generations to come, all over the world; specially in Cuba and the USA. Thanks to his family for raising and supporting such a fine man. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

Long time Dodger and Dee Gordon fan. Love the game. Jose means joy! That smile. That little league attitude. God bless his daughter. When she’s young, let’s see Penelope grab that glove and let her father shine with pride. Perfect if she wears #16. In 2036 women will be playing MLB.

Which charities did Jose Fernandez give to prior to his health? Who did he help give money to?
I am trying to make a memorial page for him, but can’t find any information on line.

    Thanks

One year ago today heaven got a little bit brighter when god called Jose home. May his spirit and love of life live on in his sweet little daughter. May she always know what a kind hearted person her father was and may his kindness live on in his sweet little angel. May you rest in God’s eternal peace. and may God be with all your loves ones. Until we meet again. I write this with a grateful heart . Thank you for letting such a loving person walk among us even if it was for a short time.
