Rafael Saldaña is former Dean of the School of Business at Miami Dade College, where he lead the creation of the IDEA Center, an industry-agnostic entrepreneurship center. He came to Miami as President of a local bank after a trajectory in financial services in U.S., Latin American and European marketing and financial institutions, revamping businesses in cities such as; Boston, Minneapolis, Winston-Salem, Tampa, Orlando, and San Juan, P.R. His passion is for education and developing small businesses.
In 2000, Rafael received the US Postmaster General Industry Excellence Award for Multicultural Direct Marketing and was appointed by the Governor of Minnesota to the Chicano Latino Affairs Council. He also serves in the Miami Board of The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). Rafo holds a BA in Economics from the University of Puerto Rico (MCL) and an MBA from the J.L.Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. In addition, he has completed executive graduate programs at Duke, Yale, UC-Berkeley, and University of Chicago. Now he pursues various professional interests in multifamily commercial real estate, financing small businesses and hydrokinetic energy projects.
